When my ipod got stolen I tried the same thing with Apple. My ipod is registered in the system, but they too would not give me the ip address of anyone using my ipod. You would have better luck just knocking on the door when you see the tv on and the xbox connected to xbox live.

It'll only happen if people put up with it. The only way to voice your opinion sometimes in a capitalistic society is to simply walk away and not buy/put up with the offending product.
I wish more people understood this and voted with their dollars. We've seen BestBuy, Target, Walmart wipe away small businesses in the U.S. People complain yet shop at Target to save a few cents on pens? A friend used to own his own pharmacy in the 80's-90's. He left as he couldn't keep up with the prices of Walmart/Target that could afford to buy tons of merchandise in cheap bulk. Now he's working for Walgreens, after owning his own business and making $100k+/year. He's 65. So much for his retirement.
If people want change, instead of complaining and fighting each other (even over something as silly in the grand scheme of life as an OS), work with one another. If Egypt can do it, why can't we?

iPhone will be release in Australia within the next month (end of Feb by the latest) only on the Telstra network. Unfortunately Telstra has exclusive rights for the iPhone, so the product will be awesome (e.g. being Apple) but the service provider will be crap....
At my work we got a demo of the iPhone from Telstra for development reasons, we will be supplying data for a few of the services for the iPhone in Australia.
Umm is this for real? I would've thought Australia wouldn't get the iPhone until the 3G version is out.
I think I will still hold out for the next version, even though I am keen on getting an iphone.

The 'haters'? Are you serious? So anyone that DARES to show a sign of critisism towards Apple is labelled a hater now? "If you are not for us you are against us". Some people have a personal reality distortion field I tell you. It's only a phone man, it's not like the Sun is collapsing on itself.
So if its only a phone why comment. No distortion here. Its a good phone, has some issues, same as many phones. But other phones no one cares, just like I don't care about other phones, you should not care about the Iphone 4.

Bought my very first mac, core 2 duo macbook 2 ghz white. Didn't know they would be on sale, I had been saving this cash for a mac since the rumors of core 2 duo laptops started. I'm so happy to have finally switched now, hopefully the results of my music projects will be better. Although right now.... I'm pretty much just playing with widgets, lol.

I have to laugh at the people worried that one day Apple will cut off software access in OS X. Apple said they won't do that. That would be bad for business. It makes no sense.

e.g. PowerPC support in SL, FW support is waning. Apple does not make, or support, things for the "long tail"

NEC has developed a chip that can decode both, as you have hinted at. The optical technology is coming along (I saw something on Digg a little bit ago that noted some progress in that arena), but still not there yet.
I'm curious to see how that plays out. Samsung at first wanted to put out a hybrid player, as well as another company whose identity I forget; but apparently Sony's Blu-Ray licensing explicitly forbids combo players. So I don't understand, is NEC's chip a clean-room solution or did they find some other solution?

I think this is original case of the forthcoming iphone, if you guys look at all apple products, they all are aluminum. And i strongly believe that the new iphone will also be aluminum. This one looks sexy.........

Well I guess what I am saying is that the graphics card really doesn't have the muscle that, say, four processor cores do. You should see what my activity monitor does when I crush some havy stuff - it might use two cores if I am lucky.
And what I'm saying is that once you step down from a $4000 machine you see a much larger power ratio in the graphics card/processor image crunching.
Take my set up, I'm betting that using my graphics card benafits me greatly.
In your case though it would be awesome to hand more of that off to the extra procs.

Looks more deceptive than factual. I'm sure Verizon is being very generous with the definition of "3G coverage" for their own network while doing just the opposite with AT&T's.
Neither carrier actually has a 3G coverage map available on their website.

Android 2.3 (and I think 2.2) support wi/fi tethering in the OS, no app needed. If you have an android phone with 2.2 or 2.3 (I do because ATT service sucked where I live), just select SETTINGS then WIRELESS & Networks, then "Tethering & portable hotspot" to set the phone up as a wi/fi hub with data access.
I haven't used the iphone in a while (since moving to T-MO), so I don't know if IOS supports something similar.
(using a Nexus One)
