Mark Morton: To Auction Guitar to Benefit Victory Junction

Lamb Of God's guitar master Mark Morton is known in Heavy Music as one of the best guitar players of the last decade. His work with Lamb Of God has inspired many kids worldwide to pickup a guitar and practice, practice, practice. Morton's unique style of Blues style licks mixed with crushing riffs have helped to give Lamb Of God their signature sound. We all know now that right? But did you know what Mark is heavily involved with Victory Junction? Whats is Victory Junction? "Lamb Of God" guitarist Mark Morton is pleased to announce that he will be auctioning one of his stage guitars used at the upcoming D-Tox Fest in Montebello, Quebec for charity. All proceeds from the auction will go to Victory Junction, a camp for chronically ill children in Randleman, NC. The guitar, a Mark Morton Signature model Jackson Dominion from Mark's personal collection, will be autographed and will come with photographs from the performance and a personal letter of appreciation from Mark. More details on the start date of the auction will be announced soon.

“I can't put into words how excited I am to be working with Victory Junction,” states Morton. “The work they do is astounding. To have the opportunity to contribute to such an incredible cause is nothing short of an honor. I had the chance to spend some time at the camp recently, and to see what they're doing warmed my heart and soul. I hope anybody reading this will take a few minutes to check out this wonderful organization. Together, the camp, my wife and I are putting together some BIG ideas for the future and we are simply thrilled to be a part of it!”

Victory Junction is a year round camping environment for children ages six to sixteen with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses. Founded by Kyle and Pattie Petty in honor of their son Adam, the camp is located in Randleman, NC, with a second location opening soon in Kansas City, KS. Victory Junction offers programs for a range of disease groups and maintains strong relationships with more than 30 partner hospitals. Victory Junction's mission is to provide life-changing camping experiences that are exciting, fun and empowering, in a safe and medically-sound environment. As a non-profit organization, the camp operates solely through the support of generous individuals, groups and corporations to provide this experience at no charge to children and their families."

Hard Rock Grammy nominations

The nominees for the 53rd Grammy Awards, presented by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, were announced yesterday. The event will take place on February 13, 2011 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. While this award show does not represent Heavy Music the way the Golden Gods Awards do, it is still the most important award show in the world when it comes to music. Representing Heavy Music this year we have: Ozzy Osbourne, Slayer, Alice In Chains, Lamb Of God, Korn and Megadeth.

Christopher James Adler # 38

Today is Chris Adler's 38th birthday. Who is Chris Adler? None other then the machine of beats behind one of the best Heavy Metal bands in the last 10 years: Lamb Of God, from Richmond Virginia. Not only is Chris the drummer of this global Heavy Metal entity, but he is also the man keeping Lamb Of God in line when it comes to business. Here are some other interesting facts about Chris Adler.

- Chris went to Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria, Virginia.

- After graduation, he attended college at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. This is where he met current band mates John Campbell and Mark Morton.

- Chris's baby brother is Lamb Of God guitarist Willie Adler. Together they are known as the "Metal Purists" in the band.

- Before devoting his life and career to Lamb Of God, Chris was planning a career as a Network Engineer. He is Microsoft certified.

- He admits that even today he gets nervous before big shows. "I have to watch the video when we are done because I kinda black out and just run on adrenaline and muscle memory."

- His favorite song to play live is Hourglass.

- According to an interview he did for DRUM! Magazine, Chris describes his first drum kit as a total disaster:

"The bass drum legs were different lengths so they wouldn’t touch the ground at the same time. Every time I would hit it, it would wobble from left to right. The cymbal stands were duct taped together, and I think after two or three times playing the kit, the pedal-board actually broke in half because it was made of that crappy old fake metal."

Happy birthday to Chris Adler, we wish him many more years of health, drum bashing, and WORLD DOMINATION with Lamb of f'ing GOD! \m/
