Christopher James Adler # 38

Today is Chris Adler's 38th birthday. Who is Chris Adler? None other then the machine of beats behind one of the best Heavy Metal bands in the last 10 years: Lamb Of God, from Richmond Virginia. Not only is Chris the drummer of this global Heavy Metal entity, but he is also the man keeping Lamb Of God in line when it comes to business. Here are some other interesting facts about Chris Adler.

- Chris went to Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria, Virginia.

- After graduation, he attended college at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. This is where he met current band mates John Campbell and Mark Morton.

- Chris's baby brother is Lamb Of God guitarist Willie Adler. Together they are known as the "Metal Purists" in the band.

- Before devoting his life and career to Lamb Of God, Chris was planning a career as a Network Engineer. He is Microsoft certified.

- He admits that even today he gets nervous before big shows. "I have to watch the video when we are done because I kinda black out and just run on adrenaline and muscle memory."

- His favorite song to play live is Hourglass.

- According to an interview he did for DRUM! Magazine, Chris describes his first drum kit as a total disaster:

"The bass drum legs were different lengths so they wouldn’t touch the ground at the same time. Every time I would hit it, it would wobble from left to right. The cymbal stands were duct taped together, and I think after two or three times playing the kit, the pedal-board actually broke in half because it was made of that crappy old fake metal."

Happy birthday to Chris Adler, we wish him many more years of health, drum bashing, and WORLD DOMINATION with Lamb of f'ing GOD! \m/

Here are some videos of Chris proving why he is one of the best drummers today!

Richard Christy: Metal meets Radio

When most people hear the name Richard Christy, they immediately think of the stunt guy from the Howard Stern Show on Sirius Satellite Radio. For us Metaleros, Richard Christy is synonymous to Heavy Metal drumming. Believe it or not, Richard has been a professional Heavy Metal drummer since 1995. In this time span, he has played in legendary bands like Death and Iced Earth, and recently he formed a band with Tim "Ripper" Owens called Charred Walls of the Damned.

Anyone who has met Richard Christy knows that not only is he very talented, but also a gentleman in every sense of the word. This might be hard to grasp after hearing and seeing his stunts on the Howard Stern Show, but it is all just a show. One thing that is evident, is that the same passion that took Richard to Heavy Metal heaven (or hell), also took him to radio elite. After all, being a drummer in a Heavy Metal band and working on the best radio show in history take a lot of discipline, passion and perseverance.

Recently, we chatted with Richard Christy outside of the Sirius XM studios, about Hixonfest 2010, his gig at the Howard Stern Show, and also about his new band Charred Walls of the Damned. Here is what we predict to be another hit delivered to you by Horns Up Rocks!
