The very outspoken Corey Taylor from Slipknot and Stone Sour decided that instead of writing an autobiography like everyone else does, he would write something very different. This is what he had to say about this:
“I’ve been threatening to write a book for a long time, but since every Tom, Dick and Harry writes an autobiography, I didn’t want to just do that. My approach to writing is the same as my approach to music: I don’t want to do what everybody else is doing.”
Our good friend Jim Florentine from VH1 Classic's That Metal Show, conducted an in depth interview with Taylor about his upcoming book "Seven Deadly Sins", his life and of course, his music." The three part interview premieres on Corey Taylor's official site on July 5th.
According to Roadrunner Records: much like the book itself, it’s a riveting and personal discussion, and we’re airing it in three parts so fans don’t miss a word of it. The three parts of the interview will premiere on three Tuesdays in July (July 5, 12, and 19) on Corey Taylor's official site, each at 5pm eastern time.
“Seven Deadly Sins” is Taylor’s candid, outrageous manifesto reflecting on the subject and nature of sin. The book will be released July 12 in the U.S and July 14 in the U.K.
One year ago the Heavy Music community lost one of the most charismatic, charming, and down to earth rockers in history. Ronnie James Dio is the emblem of Horns Up Rocks, not just because he popularized the "devil horns" (the Horns Up Rocks logo), but also because he was one of the most humble musicians ever. Not one person that had the privilege to meet Dio has one bad thing to say about him and always comment on what a great role model he was. Any musician out there reading this, should take note of Ronnie James Dio, a legend that will never be forgotten and will keep influencing musicians forever.

- RJD was an Italian-American Heavy Metal vocalist and songwriter.
- He performed with: Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Heaven & Hell, and his band Dio.
- Considered the most powerful singer in Heavy Metal history.
- Ranked as one of the greatest Rock vocalists of all time.
- Credited with popularizing the "devil horns" hand gesture in Metal culture.
- Prior to his death he was collaborating with Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Vinny Appice, on a new Heaven & Hell album, which would have been the following to "The Devil You Know", released on April 28, 2009.
- Dio died of stomach cancer on May 16, 2010.
- One of the last songs he recorded was titled "Metal Will Never Die".

Last night the band Hellyeah held their Official after party at Duff's Brooklyn, following their performance with Buckcherry and All That Remains at the Best Buy Theater in Times Square. As usual, the vibe was great and the band had a great time with their fans. Among the rowdy fans were media personalities Jose Mangin (Sirius XM Liquid Metal and MTV's Headbangers Ball) and Don Jamieson (That Metal Show).

\m/ NUMBER 10: THE HIXON Chronicles - On August 27th, Horns Up Rocks and Jefferson Avenue Productions brought the annual Hixonfest to the Ace of Clubs bar in New York City. The event featured live music by Lies Beneath, Canons, S.W.A.K., female Judas Priest tribute band Judas Priestess, and New Jersey's Thrash Metal titans The Hixon. Additionally, the event was hosted by Richard Christy from the Howard Stern Show and Charred Walls of the Damned. The event also featured a sexy model search hosted by Crown Ink Divas CEO Frankie Scorpion.
Before the event, and before we all started our drink-a-thon, Horns Up Rocks founder Jo Schuftan interviewed The Hixon. Here is what went down:
\m/ NUMBER 9: METAL meets COMEDY (with Don Jamieson and Jim Florentine of VH1 Classic's THAT METAL SHOW) - When it comes to mixing Heavy Metal and Comedy, there are very few people that can blend them together like Don Jamieson and Jim Florentine do. You may be familiar with this two maniacs, from VH1 Classic's That Metal Show, or from the infamous "Terrorizing Tele-marketers CD's. You may also know them from Comedy Central's Crankyankers and Meet the Creeps, or maybe from a Heavy Metal concert. Regardless of where you know them from, what this two man have achieved in their careers, is truly admirable! We had the chance to interview both of them together, and somehow managed to keep them somewhat controlled! Check it out:
\m/ NUMBER 8: SLAYER, MEGADETH & ANTHRAX @ American Carnage 2 - On Friday October 8th, we headed to the Nassau Vetarans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island to experience one of the best tours in Heavy Metal history. Which tour are we talking about? The second leg of the American Carnage tour, sponsored by Jägermeister Music, which features Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax.
We arrived at the venue around 4 o'clock, and immediately headed to lot 6 (pretty appropriate) for Jo Schuftan's (founder of Horns Up Rocks) tailgate birthday party! As soon as we arrived to lot 6, Heavy Metal was blasting from every car in the parking lot! It was heaven for any Metal head and hell for everyone else. Check out the videos we captured!
\m/ NUMBER 7:At the 2010 Hixonfest, the Judas Priestess played a furious set right after New Jersey's Metaleros The Hixon almost burned the house down. The all female Judas Priest tribute band puts the pedal to the Metal, and they do it from start to finish. Judas Priestess deliver a vulgar display of adrenaline, that can be addictive. Not only can they make the dudes headbang out of control, they also get the chicks to shake their booties lambada style. When the Judas Priestess ladies rock the hell out of the stage, nobody is safe. Here is the interview that METAL LOVE did with the ladies of Judas Priestess! \m/ NUMBER 666: New Orleans has always been known for its influence in music and its multilingual cross-cultural heritage. This ever-changing region of the United States gave birth to Jazz music, and is universally known for its cuisine. Recently they became known for their NFL football team, thanks to the New Orleans Saints victory over the Indianapolis Colts at this years Super Bowl in Miami. What does all this have to do with Heavy Music? Well, NOLA is the birthplace of some of the best bands in the country! This year we produced a lot of legendary interview videos, but two interviews that we are very proud of are the ones with Kirk Windstein (Crowbar, Down, Kingdom of Sorrow), and Ben Falgoust (Goatwhore, Soilent Green). \m/ NUMBER 5: Eugene Victor Hoglan II, known by many of you as Gene Hoglan or "The Atomic Clock", is one of the best drummers in the world. During his 26 year career he has played in bands such as Strapping Young Lad, Testament, Dark Angel, War God and Dethklok. When I heard that he was joining the mighty Fear Factory, my heart started beating at triple the tempo. I started envisioning what the new generation of Fear Factory would sound like. The results blew my mind when I heard their latest album titled "Mechanized". Here is our interview with Gene Hoglan (featured on Blabbermouth), as well as some live footage of Fear Factory!
\m/ NUMBER 4: As we all know, Ronnie James Dio passed away earlier this year after losing his battle to stomach cancer. A few weeks before his passing, Ronnie made his way to Los Angeles from a cancer clinic in Texas, for the Revolver Golden Gods Awards. To me this is very inspiring and proofs the power behind Heavy Music. Ronnie James Dio will always be remembered as a true warrior!

\m/ NUMBER 3: "When I think about what brought me to New York, the first thing that comes to my mind is New York Hard Core. Growing up in Colombia in the mid 90's, back when Pablo Escobar and crew controlled the country through acts of violence. I experienced lots of hardship by watching my own country, become the country of fear. I was around 15 years old when I first heard downset, I know downset are from LA but once I was hooked on the Hard Core movement, I started to listen to New York Hard Core through bands like Sick Of It All, Madball, Agnostic Front, Biohazard, Vision of Disorder and a whole bunch of other bands (mostly through mix tapes)." -Jo Schüftan (Founder of Horns Up Rocks)

Pantera defines what life is all about: Determination, Passion and making the best out of every single moment lived. With that said, when I went to the Philadelphia Tattoo Convention I knew I had to have an appointment with the needle and chinese ink. \m/ NUMBER UNO: As we all know, the great Peter Steele from Type O Negative died on April 14, 2010 from heart failure. Peter will always be remembered as one of the most charismatic musicians in history. Together with his bands Type O Negative and Carnivore, he created a legacy that will never die! Fortunately, Peter will always live through his passionate music and if you ever had a chance to meet him or to see perform live, you know that he was a true legend.
This was the saddest and biggest story this year for Horns Up Rocks to cover. Pete ignited a flame that we will never let die! Here are some of the videos we produced in memory of Peter Steele, 'the giant man with a heart of gold!"

This "Metal heads" are not only part of the most important Heavy Metal television show today, but are also recognized for their immature and smart humor. While they could be perceived as morons, the truth is that a concept such as terrorizing tele-marketers, is pretty damn genius. Simply because nobody can stand tele-marketers, and we have all wanted to have our revenge against them! Thankfully, Jamieson and Florentine had the time and energy to do terrorize the hell out of this unwanted creatures. Thanks to a cheap tape recorder (yes, they still use tape) they have captured some hilarious moments, which you can now own on CD.
Apart from their various comical endeavors, together with media legend Eddie Trunk, they have managed to become the "authority" in television when it comes to Heavy Metal. That Metal Show just kicked off its sixth season with a tribute to the great Ronnie James Dio, who lost his battle to cancer earlier this year. The tribute featured Wendy Dio (Dio's wife and manager), Heaven and Hell's Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice (Dio's band-mates), Rob Halford from Judas Priest, and Tom Morello from Rage Against The Machine.
This past Tuesday our friends from Revolver Magazine, Red, and Tones of Death, along with Scion and Best Buy, presented the CD Release show for Jamieson's and Florentine's fifth installment of their "Terrorizing Tele-marketers" series. The event featured live music by Begorrah and Gunfire N' Sodomy (Jamieson's acoustic death metal group), and also a comedy duet by both "Metal Comics". As soon as Jamieson and Florentine stepped off the stage, we grabbed them for an exclusive interview. Here it is is for all of you to enjoy! \m/
While stand-up comedy is not very Metal, there are two comedians that represent Heavy Metal and comedy all in one. We are talking about Don Jamieson and Jim Florentine from VH1 Classic's That Metal Show. You may be wondering since when are Don and Jim doing comedy shows. Well, before they joined media personality and radio legend Eddie Trunk on That Metal Show: Don and Jim were busy terrorizing telemarketers.
When asked why they decided to terrorize tele-marketers, both Don and Jim agree that with so much free time during the day and tele-marketers terrorizing all of us on a daily basis, they felt it was appropriate for them to take matters into their own hands. This is when the genius concept of terrorizing tele-marketers was born. What neither of them ever expected, was for Steve Vai to offer them a record deal under his label called "Favored Nations".
Today they are celebrating the release of their comedy CD titled "Terrorizing Telemarketers Volume V". The event will take place at "The Studio" in Webster Hall, in which both Don Jamieson and Jim Florentine will be performing an exclusive comedy set. Admission is free with the purchase of the CD at the Best Buy in Union Square for only $9.99. Also performing will be the bands Gunfire N' Sodomy (Jamieson's acoustic death metal group), and Begorrah. The 666 season of That Metal Show, kicks off on Saturday October 16th. For this season VH1 Classic stepped it up, and the show will be 1 hour long. The season opener will feature a very special tribute to the great Ronnie James Dio, and it will feature somce very special guests, which include Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice from Heaven and Hell, Rob Halford from Judas Priest, Tom Morello from Rage Against The Machine and Audioslave, and Ronnie's wife and manager Wendy Dio. This episode will be a very special one, so tune in!

Legendary thrash Metal meisters Slayer, will be on VH1's That Metal Show tonight. The band will be represented by guitarist Kerry King and drummer Dave Lombardo. Slayer has never been on That Metal Show, so this promises to be a very special episode. That Metal Show is hosted by radio and television legend Eddie Trunk, and comedians Don Jamieson and Jim Florentine. The show is on its 5th season and we can't let it be canceled. This show has a similar role for Heavy Music to what MTV's Headbangers Ball had in the 90's.

On Thursday July 8, Charred Walls of the Damned (featuring Tim "Ripper" Owens and Richard Christy) took over The Gramercy theater in New York City. On this night, the band was joined by The Hixon, Magus Beast and comedian Don Jamieson from VH1's That Metal Show.
We arrived just in time to check out The Hixon, a band that we have been watching for a while and they are starting to get the recognition they deserve. The Hixon always puts on great performances and their music is brutally structured. Their message is very clear: they are here to spread the brutality through uncompromised and well focused music.
Following The Hixon, comedian Don Jamieson was introduced by Eddie Trunk and Jim Florentine, who are his co-hosts from VH1's That Metal Show. Don put on an excellent comedy show, something that we had never experienced at a concert and found it to be very entertaining. He talked about all things that rock: getting laid, drinking booze, smoking and rocking out at Duff's Brooklyn.
A few minutes after Don was cheered loudly off the stage, Charred Walls of The Damned took over center stage and played a rocking set. The all star band sounded loud and proud, and the New York crowd was very stoked to have Richard Christy from The Howard Stern Show and formerly from Death, Iced Earth and Control Denied, back behind the drums. Some of the highlights of their set included a cover of Iron Maiden's Number of The beast and Sepultura's Territory sang by Jose Mangin from Sirius XM Liquid Metal.
The night was a reunion of the New York Heavy Music family and it couldn't have been any better. We ran into Richard Christy at the end of the night and this is what he had to say: "I am so happy of our show tonight. New York is my home, so I wanted to make sure that everyone had a good time. I actually was nervous right before we went on, but everything was great! I want to thank all the fans for making this a memorable night!"
