In the last year Horns Up Rocks has become synonymous to top notch event production within the New York City metropolitan area thanks to our ability of uniting the Heavy Music fans of the tri-state area. After the success of the March Metal Beatdown and the Dark Arts Music Festivus, we are rejoining forces with Brutal Bitches Productions and bringing you the Sindependence Metal Bash! On Saturday, July 2, 2011 we are taking over Fontana's Bar in New York City!
The event will not only celebrate America's Independence from the British, but it will also mark the release of "Death of the American Dream": the brand new album of Long Island's Heavy Music titans Lies Beneath. We are very proud of hosting this special show and to return to Manhattan for what promises to be an amazing event. Lies Beneath performed at "Hixonfest" (the first Horns Up Rocks event ever) last summer at Ace Of Clubs, and totally killed it.
Joining Lies Beneath will be Alekhine's Gun, No Remission, Ashes of Your Enemy and Eyes Like Cyanide. Additionally, the event will be hosted by Horns Up Rocks founder Jo Schüftan and Tim Martinez (DJ Tim No 37) of No Mercy Metal, and DJed by Alissa Shimansky of Brutal Bitches Productions.
Here are the artist bio's: - Lies Beneath: A five-piece Heavy Metal band with influences ranging from Thrash, to Death Metal and Hardcore. The band offers their listeners a classic dual-guitar attack, a crushing rhythm section, blended with dynamic vocals and brooding soundscapes. - No Remission: A powerful 4-piece Heavy Metal band from Westchester, NY. They have proven the very meaning of perseverance in establishing themselves among the underground Tristate Metal scene. Relentless in their quest to push far beyond the barriers of mainstream predictability, this fearsome foursome has earned the respect in opening for acts Dying Fetus, Anal Cunt, and Marc Rizzo of Soulfly & Cavalera Conspiracy. The band is about to release their third full-length album titled "Through the Blackened Skies,’ which was being mixed and produced by Billy Graziadei of Brooklyn legends Biohazard. No Remission is driven in taking their music to a much larger audience.
- Ashes of Your Enemy: From the heart of New Jersey in late 2005, emerged this 5 piece metal outfit whose name alone underlines a fierce, uncompromising vision. Brought together by means of a shared concept, they collectively dug deep into their metal roots and began to structure and refine their sound. Their latest EP "Anthem" is currently in heavy rotation on Sirius XM Liquid Metal XM!

Currently the New York City Heavy Music scene is going through a historic period of time, in which bands, fans, and promoters are uniting in order to make New York City "The Capital of Metal". While some are still trying to divide the scene, the masses are coming out to every show and are determined to keep the scene growing stronger than all. On Saturday, May 28, 2011, Horns Up Rocks is uniting Metallic forces with New York Heavy Music icon Tim Martinez from No Mercy Metal, and Chris Keene, to bring the masses a night of headbanging, crushing music, and drinking! Do you like hard hitting Heavy Metal? The only music that makes your hair stand when you blast it on your car or on your stereo. If you can handle some punishing Metal, then listen up! This Sunday April 10, New York City will be painted in black for the biggest No Mercy Metal Showcase to date. The event will take place at the Highline Ballroom and the lineup of underground Heavy Music bands is quiet stellar.

Tomorrow in Brooklyn, Club Europa will host the first No Mercy Metal Showcase of 2011! Once again the show is going to be a metallic union and will feature some of the best up and coming Heavy Metal bands in the tri-state area. Additionally, the band that puts on the best show will get some media exposure and the chance to play a bigger show in the near future. The event will be hosted and DJ'ed by New York Heavy Music titan Tim Martinez (A.K.A. Tim No 37), who will be spinning some heaviness in between sets.
In the past few years there have been numerous incidents in which human beings have lost their lives after being harassed by some cowards who are too weak to face their own reality and need to feel better by hurting others. This has to stop!
Here in New York City we live in a "melting pot" full of people from all over the world. So to us this is a subject that we don't just hear or read about, but it is something we face daily. This is why New York City is uniting this Saturday February 26th in an event presented by Tim Martinez (A.K.A. DJ Tim No 37). “Hate the Hate” is the name of the event and it will take place at Tammany hall, which is a brand new state of the art facility in the Lower East Side section of Manhattan.

On October 30th, the 4th edition of the No Mercy Metal Showcase will take place at CRASH MANSION. The underground Heavy Music scene is going through very exciting times here in New York City. There are a vast amount of young up and coming bands that have a crushing sound, and the fans are starting to notice this. One of the top reasons why we started Horns Up Rocks is because we know how hungry both the bands and the fans are for something new and original. I think collectively, the Heavy Music fans are getting tired of the same musical equation. So we predict some very interesting times for the Heavy Music scene here in New York City.

On Saturday July 24th we headed to Santos Party House in Manhattan, for the second edition of the No Mercy Metal Showcase. We arrived early at the venue, and the anticipation could be sensed in the air. The bands were loading their gear, the promoters were making last minute adjustments, and the fans were waiting outside patiently. As soon as we arrived we ran into the guys from Severed, and the From Bliss to Devastation crew. Once the doors opened, the attendees didn't waste anytime and started pacing around the dance floor.
Once the music started being cranked through the PA by DJ Tim No 37, the audience put the word party into Santos Party House. Since the show was all ages, the crowd was a mix between young teenagers and young adults. We think it is very important to bring the young crowd in, in order to have them become part of the scene at a young age. Events like this might inspire them to start their own musical projects and this is very beneficial to the entire scene.
The night kicked off with We Fall As Heroes from Queens, a band that we have seen live numerous times and who make it evident that there are a few young up and coming bands with plenty of talent within the tri-state area. Following this energetic band, were Long Island's From Bliss to Devastation. A band we interviewed when they opened for the legendary Hardcore band Earthcrisis at The Gramercy. Their performances are always filled with fury and passion, and their music is very original. This elements will take this guys real far as long as they remain true to their craft.
Then it was time for the surprise of the night: Letchworth from Albany. As soon as they stepped on stage everyone started grooving to their perfect blend of heavy crunchy guitars, groovy bass and tight drum beats. Once the singer pitched in, it was refreshing to listen to a Hardcore Metal band that wasn't afraid of rapping over heavy music and then taking their music to a guttural level. The band even brought some cheerleaders, that made sure no one was standing still. We are cooking up a special on this band, because their story of perseverance is one that we must share with all of you.
Next up was Eyes of The Sun from Brooklyn, these guys brought in a unique moody sound to the night. The crowd enjoyed their set even though they sounded very different than the rest of the bands, which truly defines a music showcase. Once the crowd got doomed, it was time for Embrace Agony from New York. This band punished the entire audience with some brutal music, and then forgave them with some harmonic parts that were very well blended in.
Headlining the No Mercy Metal Showcase was the mighty Severed from New York. We have been following this band for the last 5 months and they are clearly one of the best Heavy Metal bands in the tri-state area. From all the times we have seen them live, this show stands out because simply put: they destroyed Santos Party House! They sounded very tight and heavy as usual, but the highlight was Christian Geraldino's (singer) interaction with the crowd. He had full control of the crowd and the attendees loved it!
The second edition of the No Mercy Metal Showcase was a complete success, and every band did a great job! We want to thank the great people from Gotham Rocks, Tech 9 Music and Tim No 37, for understanding the need of such an event! We are very proud to be part of this movement and hope that other cities get inspired to organize events likes this one.
About a month ago Horns Up Rocks caught the first edition of Double Trouble, which is basically when the Metaleros here in the New York metro area get to gather at the # 1 club in the city (Santos Party House) and throw some horns while being entertained by none other then MS. JENNCITY and Tim No 37!

After Your Demise finished taking over Santos Party House, when some thought the night was over, the first edition of "Double Trouble" kicked off with fury. The event hosted by Jennifer Arroyo (A.K.A. Ms. JennCity) wrapped up the night with more music, featuring live performances by Desolate and Severed from New York City, and DJ Tim No 37 spinning some Heavy music at full blast.
45 minutes after Your Demise stepped off the stage, New York's own Desolate started what seemed like an eternal sound check. This band believes in perfection and as a result they sounded crisply punishing. From the moment they hit the stage they started getting some movement on the dance floor. Their guitarist and singer where wandering around the dance floor getting the crowd going. I must say that this guys where very impressive at mixing together Death Metal, Hard Core and Melodic Metal. We had a chance to speak with the band after they got off stage, this interview will be posted very soon.
Not long after Desolate exited the stage, it was time for Severed to get on stage and proof what the buzz on the street is all about. Not only can they play their music with conviction, but they have great musicianship. Those who left early missed a furious set full of tight grooves married to crunchy guitars and vocals that sounded like war.
At the end of the evening, we had a chance to chat with JennCity and she told us that the goal is to have "Double Trouble" be a monthly event at Santos Party House. She thanked both Desolate and Severed for their amazing sets, DJ Tim No 37 for spinning the heaviness and the crowd for all their support. This interview will be posted in its entirety very soon.
Events like this one, proof once again that Heavy music is spreading like a disease that can't be contained or stopped.
