Hatebreed Destroy Everything at their Hometown Show at Toad's Place

Yesterday was a chaotic day full of thunder storms, extreme humidity, and plenty of chaos! As soon as we arrived to Toad's Place the crowd was already warmed up for the mayhem that was about to ensue. Next thing you know the lights go out and Connecticut's number one band in history, took over center stage after 5 months of not performing live. Everyone went bezzerk when Hatebreed kicked off their set with their violent anthem "Everyone Bleeds Now", out of their self-titled album. The crowd didn't stop moving from the second that drummer Matt Byrne played the intro beat all the way until the band finished their set with "I Will Be Heard" out of their Perseverance record. The record that cut Hatebreed's path into International stardom, here is what Jamey Jasta had to say about this:

"Coming in 2012 we are going to be celebrating the tenth year anniversary of this album and the time has fucking flown by. But that record changed all of our lives man, it took us all over the world!"

Last night Hatebreed's fans got their money's worth and left drenched from the extreme heat at Toad's Place. The show went on without any major incidents thanks to Jasta's constant reminders to the crowd:

"Listen up real quick! When you come over the barricade, make sure you respect the security guys. You respect them, and they will respect you. Alright? We got nothing but love for Toad's Place and the whole staff! So lets keep it cool all fucking night!"

This message sums up what Hatebreed has always been about: unity, respect and human love! Last night was very emotional for everyone who attended the show and paid tribute to Mario Comesanas (Sirius XM Liquid Metal and Revolver Magazine), who passed away earlier this week from an aggressive form of leukemia. Hatebreed dedicated the entire set to him:

"We want to dedicate this entire show to our good friend Mario from Liquid Metal who passed away earlier this week at the young age of 30," commented Jamey Jasta.

So what did the fans think about the show?

"YOU GUYS FUCKING KILLED IT LAST NIGHT!! ALL OF US WERE THERE FOR YOU!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR COMING TO CT!!" - Zadak Webby Brooks

"Great show last night @ Toad's !!!! Always great to see my favorite band play live!!" - Heather Voss

"You guys destroyed Toad's Last night. it was my first Hatebreed show. You guys are one of my favorite bands I had a fucked up week and seeing Hatebreed made it so much better. I hope to see you all again soon." - William Petroccio

"Great show as always last night! You guys sounded better than ever. We can always count on you to bring it when you come home to CT!" - James Kyer

At the end of the show we had to chance to chat with Hatebreed's drummer Matt Byrne about the future of the band. HE told us that the band has already recorded some song ideas on tape and should have a new record out in 2012. They are also planning a US tour that will probably happen in the fall. Exciting times for Hatebreed and their fans, who are as diehard as they come!

Here are some EXCLUSIVE live videos from the show:

Hatebreed Returns Home for a one-off Show at Toad's Place

The state of Connecticut is waiting with anticipation for the return of the mighty Hatebreed to New Haven's legendary venue "Toad's Place". The show will take place tomorrow Friday June 17, 2011, and the band will be joined by The Acacia Strain, Lionheart and Bound For Pain.

Every time that Hatebreed performs there, the place erupts into one huge mosh pit that usually leaves plenty of casualties behind: broken bones, blood on the floor... you name it! Last time we saw them perform live at "Toad's Place" was for the CD Release show for their covers album titled "For the Lions", and it was one of the best Hatebreed performances that we have ever seen. Hatebreed is fully loaded with songs that touch the soul and crush your bones, the question really is if Connecticut is ready for Hatebreed?

What makes this show really special is that it is a one-off show, and possibly their only East Coast show of the year. Right after they destroy "Toad's Place", Hatebreed will play the Montebello Metal Fest in Canada. Then they will embark on yet another European Tour which will kick off on June 24 in Switzerland (Sonisphere Festival) and will conclude on September 3 in Barcelona, Spain.

"Hatebreed always have the biggest circle pits I have ever seen to this day! Love them! Best band ever... in Hardcore! And they have been able to tell everyone to shut the f&*k up! Nobody is exempt from a beat-down and I learned that from Hatebreed!" - Shawn Crahan (Clown from Slipknot)

Jasta debuts NEW song featuring Zakk Wylde

As we had previously mentioned, Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed, Kingdom Of Sorrow) has a solo album coming out on July 26 via EONE Music and just by hearing this new track he recorded with the almighty Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society), we're pretty sure that this album will be another hit for the hardest working man in Heavy Music.

The birth of "Jasta" is a result of Jamey having so much music to share, that he decided to produce another project. Some may ask why the hell is he starting another project? Well, Jasta felt that with so many songs that he has created throughout the years that didn't make it into either Hatebreed or Kingdom of Sorrow, that it would dope for the fans to get some new material this summer. Jasta's new project will be released this summer via EONE Music and it will feature a bunch of special guests.

A diverse variety of guest appearances can be found on this record. Tim Lambesis (AS I LAY DYING), pro skater Mike Vallely, Philip Labonte (ALL THAT REMAINS), Randy Blythe and Mark Morton (LAMB OF GOD) and guitar god ZAKK WYLDE just to name a few.

Without further due here is "The Fearless Must Endure", featuring Jamey Jasta and Zakk Wylde:

Here is an interview we did with Jamey Jasta at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards, in which we discuss his new solo album:

Jamey Jasta: Reinventing Hardcore & Heavy Metal

When Jamey Jasta (born James Shanahan; August 7, 1977) was 14 years old, he decided to release his demons in a therapeutic and chaotic way as the singer of a band appropriately called JASTA 14. From the moment the band started performing at small Hardcore shows in Connecticut, it became evident that Jasta was meant to be the front-man of a touring Hardcore band. After carefully analyzing how the crowd reacted to his vocals, lyrics and stage presence, Jamey dropped out of school, gripped the microphone tightly and decided to give his best shot at becoming a professional musician. Today, he is the front-man of Hatebreed, which is unquestionably the biggest Hardcore band in history.

How did Jamey Jasta reinvent Hardcore and Heavy Metal? Well, never before had a Hardcore band performed at arenas all over the world and managed to earn the respect of millions of Heavy Metal fans. Hatebreed have managed to become the first Hardcore band in history to accomplish massive global popularity thanks to their passionate uplifting beatdown music, which proved that there is a very fine line between Hardcore and Heavy Metal. Hatebreed is also one of the only bands to not have been booed off stage by Slayer fans, when touring numerous times with the Thrash Metal titans.

Thanks to Jamey's hard work as leader of Hatebreed and being a master at promoting the band, Hatebreed has managed to sell over 1 million records combined. Additionally, not only is Jasta a very charismatic and honest dude, but he is also a very hard working man. When he is not touring the world with Hatebreed, he is busy with his various side projects. His side projects include: Kingdom of Sorrow (who will be part of these years Rockstar Mayhem Festival), Jasta (his new solo project due this summer), Hatewear Inc. (Clothing line), and Stillborn Records (record label). Jamey has also done guest vocals on various records and has also produced various albums. Lets not forget that he hosted MTV's Headbangers Ball!

Jasta is living proof that if you do everything in your power to accomplish your personal goals, you can live your own dream. Here is an EXCLUSIVE "Black Carpet" interview we did with Jasta at the 2011 Revolver Golden Gods Awards, joining us in mid interview is none-other then Shawn Crahan # 6 (Clown from Slipknot) who discusses how Jamey Jasta reinvented Hardcore and Heavy Metal. \m/

We want to thank Hatebreed, Jamey Jasta, Revolver Magazine, Bill Meis at EONE Music & all the fans! This piece is dedicated to PAUL GRAY (RIP)! \m/

Thy Will Be Done = Rhode Island's Punch

Thy Will Be Done is one of the hardest working bands in the underground Heavy Music scene! Ever since we came across them in 2009 at the Crazy Donkey in Long Island, where they warmed up the crowd for Machine Head. We knew that they had the proper mindset and the right sound to be able to infect thousands of ear buds all across the United States. In the last few years they have been direct support for: Lamb Of God, Machine Head (as mentioned above), Fear Factory, Hatebreed, Killswitch Engage, Arch Enemy, Amon Amarth and many more.

Why this all this bands ask Thy Will Be Done to share the stage with them? Well, they guys from Thy Will Be Done have managed to blend various elements of Heavy Metal and Hardcore in an original way. They are also some of the nicest guys you will ever meet, they always go the extra mile for their fans both on and off stage.

We've heard many fans out there say how at the beginning they didn't get the bands music, but that after a few spins they understood that Thy Will Be Done is "Rhode Island's Punch"! Once they hit you, they knock you out ala Mike Tyson.

This past December we headed over to Santos Party House in New York City, to check out Shadow's Fall, Thy Will Be Done and Binary Code. As soon as we got to the venue we ran into Thy Will Be Done's front-man/screamer J Costa, and immediately started talking music! Right after Thy Will Be Done were done punching everyone who attended in the gut with their furious music, we spoke with J about the past, the present and the future of Thy Will Be Done.

Check out this video interview with J Costa, which features a brand new song by Thy Will Be Done, and a cameo appearance by Doc Coyle from God Forbid. \m/

The World We Knew: Version 2010

This past Sunday we experienced another furious show put together by 2 Legit Bookings. 2 Legit Booking is a New York City based booking company, started by John Effin Wiley (Severed & The World We Knew) and his partner in crime Dee. 2 Legit has quickly become a reputable and honest booking company, which is why Horns Up Rocks has jumped on board with 2 Legit, and together have helped to give rebirth to the New York City Heavy Music underground scene. Ok, enough props. We are here to tell you about the brutal assault known as The World We Knew.

The World We Knew came to surface in 2004 when singer Frank Fanelli decided it was time to stop compromising his talent, and to start playing some brutal music. After many years of hard work, in 2007 they released their debut album titled "Exortium". A few years later and after a few lineup changes, they released "To The Wolves". This is the album that caught the attention of Stillborn Records, the label owned and operated by Jamey Jasta of Hatebreed. Once Stillborn Records took them under their wing, it was time for the band to get busy on the road. After they got signed by Stillborn Records, one of the big tours they were part of was Stillborn Fest 2009. From there on, things got pretty hectic for the band and once their touring cycle ended, it was time for some restructuring.

After a few months of trial and error, singer Frank Fanelli and guitarist Tim Howley, found the links they were missing in order to re-create their chain of punishing brutality. In a very wise move, the band brought in Severed's backbone: guitarist Justin Whang, bassist John Effin Wiley, and drummer Jorge Sosa. Judging from their performance this past Sunday at Club Europa, the band's upcoming tour in December, which will conclude with another run with Stillborn Fest (featuring Hatebreed), will be a vulgar display of power! Don't believe us? Check out this exclusive video which includes live footage of The World We knew, and an interview with singer Frank Fanelli! \m/
