Here are two facts in life that nobody can question: Metallica flies the Heavy Metal flag up high and Monopoly is everyone's favorite board game! Well, the two have joined forces! Metallica: 25 years of Master Of Puppets

Metallica's legendary album "Master Of Puppets" is easily one of the most influential and kick-ass albums to have ever been recorded in Heavy Music. Recorded at Sweet Silence Studios in the fall of 1985 in Copenhagen, Denmark, Metallica's mission was to create an album that would help the band become a global phenomenon. Not only did they manage to do this, but 26 years later this album is still as relevant as it when it came out. "Master Of Puppets" was also the last record that bassist Cliff Burton recorded with the band, before his tragic death in September of 1986.

Here are some facts about this legendary album:

- Master Of Puppets reached number 29 on the Billboard 200, and spent 72 weeks on the charts.

- On November 4, 1986 it became the band's first album to be certified gold after selling over 500,000 copies. Master Of Puppers eventually sold over 6 million copies in the United States and was certified 6x platinum by the RIAA. This was done without any radio airplay or the release of a music video.

- After the release of the album, Metallica went on tour in the United States with Ozzy Osbourne. During this tour vocalist/rhythm guitarist James Hetfield broke his wrist while skateboarding down a hill. The tour continued with Hetfield on vocals, and guitar technician John Marshall on rhythm guitar.

- Every song on "Master Of Puppets" (except "Leper Messiah" and "Damage, Inc.") can be played on "Guitar Hero: Metallica". The song "Battery" is featured on Rock Band 2.

- ESPN has used the title track "Master of Puppets" to promote the NASCAR Nationwide Series. It is also featured on the movie "Old School" when they kidnap the pledgers.

- This is one of the albums that every Metalero should have in their collection.

Metallica's Death Magnetic: DOUBLE PLATINUM

It was announced today by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), that Metallica's latest album titled "Death Magnetic" has gone double platinum for shipments in the United States of over 2 million copies. "Death Magnetic" was released on September 12, 2008, and it was considered by many the comeback everyone was eagerly waiting for. From the moment you start listening to this album, you know it's an instant classic.

Many Metallica fans were happy with the results, but some complained that the record was over-compressed and it sounded distorted. What many don't realize is that since the turn of the century, almost every single Heavy Metal album is over-compressed. If you grab all the Pantera albums for example and play them back to back, you will realize how much louder their last album "Reinventing the Steel" is compared to all their other records. This all happened once radio became a volume competition between bands, since not that many stations were playing Heavy Metal. So if a certain record wasn't loud enough, fans would not pay much attention to it since it lacked power compared to the other records. As we know Heavy Metal is all about power, so what was all the complaining about? I think people are always going to look for something to attack Metallica with.

We remember watching VH1's "That Metal Show" when they discussed the album, and the bottom line is that it is a great album full of amazing songs. We congratulate the Metallica clan for selling over 2.5 million copies in times when people are not buying music. Here are some quotes from Metallica's drummer Lars Ulrich, during an interview with "The Pulse Radio" in October of 2008:

"I listen to this record, and I listen to it every couple of days," he said. "And when I hear it, it puts a smile on my face and it blows me away, and I don't understand what people are talking about. Somebody told me the other day that there were 12,000 people that had signed a petition to remix the record. We've sold two and a half million copies (Worldwide) of 'Death Magnetic'. You do the math yourself."

James the METALLICA wolf!

When I think about Metal, one of the first bands to come to my mind is Metallica! They where the first Heavy Metal band I listened to, when I was only 6. My friend David (RIP) would always be drawing the Metallica logo on his homework pad and when we would ask him what it was, he would quickly hide it. I kept asking him what it was with no response. Until one day in elementary school, he suddenly calls me to the area where the cubbies where. He tells me: "you have to listen to this tape by this band called Metallica, but make sure your mom doesn't see this because she will kill you!" It was a tape of Kill Em' All.

I clearly remember the day David let me borrow his Kill Em’ All tape. As soon as I got home I took my sisters Sony Sports Walkman (the yellow one) and went into my bedroom to do "homework". I hid under my bed and as soon as I pressed the Play button and heard the intro to "Hit the Lights", I was sold. I cranked up the volume and loved what I heard on both sides of the tape, especially James Hetfield’s angry and powerful voice. From that moment on I knew I wanted to be a horn thrower Metal head for the rest of my life! My mom who has always supported my passion for music, eventually bought me the Kill Em' All vinyl (my first one) and a Kill Em’ All t-shirt (my first band t-shirt). Why am I telling you this story?

Well, James Hetfield in case you don't know is the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of Metallica. Together with his Metallica brothers, he has gone from heaven to hell many times. He went from being a reject to becoming a multifaceted musician. When Hetfield is on fire (I don't mean when he caught fire in Montreal), nobody can touch what this man can do. He breathes fire onstage through his energetic vulgar display of power and as the show progresses he makes sure the crowd goes wilder and wilder. I had a chance to catch him with Metallica at Madison Square Garden in New York last year and it was unreal how tight the band is and with Hetfield being sober his vocals sounded amazing. I almost couldn't make it to the show, but after my daughter went to see them (it was her first Metal show) and told me how much she loved their set; I had to be there to witness it once again.

I actually ran into Jose Mangin from Sirius XM's Liquid Metal before the show and we where both more excited than a little kid on Christmas day. Together with thousands of Metallica fans, I witnessed the return of Hetfield. The return of the rabid Wolf! And what a huge comeback that was, he was on point the entire night! It was real good to see him smiling throughout the entire set. As we all know, Hetfield had a battle with alcoholism that he recently conquered. To me this is almost more inspirational than the music he has created with Metallica. Today, Hetfield means business!

We are all obviously interested in getting to know Hetfield more personally, because needless to say he is a man with an amazing amount of history behind him. I honestly don't think there is a band out there that has gone through as much as Metallica has, and that has helped them create many successful chapters in their career. Well, this April it's time for Hetfield to add another chapter to his outstanding career.
