No IV provision is in the bill.
For something to happen, each member needs to do their part by supporting this effort and taking part in action items. With so little support and initiative we cannot expect to match the kind of hard work DREAM act advocates have done.
If we need an amendment, we should be showing up for advocacy day or signing up for monthly contributions, volunteer our time, or doing any state chapter work by meeting local lawmaker offices regularly in groups. Dream Act folks have built a very strong network and advocacy effort that no politician can ignore. Go through the list of things they have been doing over the past few years and you can judge how much percentage we have as a community matched that effort. This is a reality and and ultimately it will be us that are responsible for no bill being passed in the last few years.
The community needs to do more than wasting time on the forums and trackers if they really want any bill to happen.
Definitely it is time to Unite. If they are doing illegal immigrants legal citizens, why should not legal applied immigrants as Green card holders.

That will be a big issue. You do have to show that I-485 has been pending for 180 days before you changed jobs.

that was a very interesting read. Another scary part is that it took USCIS 6 months to revoke teh I-140 from the time it was requested. Meaning when he actually left his employer, if he had called up USCIS to verify the status of his I-140, it would have come up as still-valid.

Today I got a call from an officer in "immigration and customs enforcement" asking for an appointment to visit my residence for checing my immigration status.
I am on H1B visa.
I would appreciate if someone could give any sort of information related to calling for a home visit.

As per the data, so far people with notice date (on 485, from NSC) before sept 1st have got their FP notices (except few people). So, I presume if someone's case transfered back to NSC from CSC before spet 1 st, he or she should expect their FP notice soon.
Obviously, we are not going get our notices if there several people lined up with NSC notice dates before our transfer dates.
This is just my logical conclusion, may be incorrect

you are correct. the new memo requires the adjudicator to approve the old i-140 first and then determine eligibility for porting. it doesn't mean that you can't port if i140 has not been approved.
actually that is not what i understand...though we should wait for
1. some lawyer to come up with clarifications.
2. updates to the adjudicator field manual.
i think this still upholds the memorandum with regards to porting off on unapproved i-140. if you notice the case they have cited "Matter of Al Wazzan" is date Oct, 2005 where as the favourable Yates memo came out in Dec 2005.

Along same lines, I would like to ask, Mark or whoever in anti-immigration camp,
there are only 1M (may be little less) skilled workers looking for immigration and you have problem with that because all of them are not THE BRIGHTEST one, okay... well first understand, for THE BRIGHTEST we have EB1 which is working great. Now in America there is a lot of work which needs experienced and highly skilled worker and we have EB2 for that, apart from that we still have a lot of work which requires hitech skilled worker and for that we have Eb3. So by the definition system has already identified the need and have representation for those.
And secondly you have problem with those who came legally and are highly skilled and have followed all the rules since day 1, counts less that 1 million, you are not willing to give them GC on other hand there are 12M (actually 20 M) who can't even write their names in English and everybody is ready to give them GC even the president of US is ready.
Doesn't that give signal that US is pro illegal and anti-legal immigration.... think about it

I agree that labor belongs to the company, but I paid all the fee for the same. They can always use that, but they are not supposed to screw up me In this case, they didn't talk to me and told me that my 485 was applied, which turned out to be a lie.
Well..they lied to you..that is good enough in this country to sue them.
If you want to whip their a** dont think what reason should you go with, take whatever comes to you.

However, prayers might be good only for that. What I say below is directed to people in general, and not to you. So, please don't get offended. I am not suggesting in any way that you are not making any concrete efforts to support IV.
I bet a lot of people are praying very very hard for their greencards.
I would like to request them to invest in concrete steps. Give monetary support to IV. Form, or join, a local state chapter. Go meet a lawmaker or his staff. Call them up and talk to their staff. Pray only if you have done all or some of the above. As they say, God helps those who help themselves. Keep up your end of the bargain, and then ask God (of the Holy Flying Spaghetti Monster, or whatever) for help.

2001 - LC cancelled by company because of 911. If company responded to RFE, Labor could have been certified.
2006 - Laid off while on 9th yr of H1
2007 - Back on H1 transfer
Spouse
1998 - H1B
2001 - Filed LC because my company cancelled LC
2003(Mar) - PD
2005(Sep) - LC approved
2005(Dec) - I-140 approved
2007(Apr) - Can file AOS/EAD now
The secret.....
PRAY, PRAY, PRAY. Nothing beats it.
To those who don't know, it took Noah 120 yrs. of faith and hope to built his arc when he was asked to, by Our Heavenly Father.

i agree...you bet i would accept substituted labor, heck i would even bid for one if it it was legal to do so. to each his own, i would do anything to get out of the hell hole legally...talk to your lawyer and go for it, it will save you a lots of time and headache. Make sure its all legal and the documentation is in order. there is nothing to hush up, thousands have done this and are doing it. People like me will feel bad and jump up and down, simply because we did not get that chance to do the same..good luck.

As the Past President of a PMI Chapter (PMP for the past 10 years and working in the field of Project management for the past 15 years) let me shed some light to this query.
Reasons why you should do PMP
1) If you believe you need a promotion, new job or rise the corporate ladder within the field of IT or management, take PMP.....Billing rate of PM's is $90-150/hr for consulting, full time could be from $100K-$250K. The next generation CIO's will be highly qualified PM's.
2) Job security for PMP's. The only job that will not be outsourced to India or China is that of a project manager.
3) PMP will help you get the project manager job, if you do not have one. However, become a Project Manager only if you like working with people. Trust me, if you hate politics and hate managing people, it is better for you to stay a techie. Your life will be miserable if you do not like managing people. Do something that you enjoy, rather than what you may hate. It is all about people and people management, rather than project management in the world of PMP's
4) PMP has become mandatory for all large gigs or projects. Small projects do not need PMP's and small projects do not pay well too.
5) PMP does not make you a better project manager. But PMP is needed by the industry. It is the experience that one gets from being on the field from different industries that makes one a good project manager.
