Ask your law firm why they are charging you so much. Below are the rates charged by my lawyer and should not be too different from what most of the others charge. If the lawyer doesn't answer, then show these numbers to your employer and lodge a strong protest with them.

Guys, this article is 100% correct. There are about 1 million people stuck at various stages of the green card process, H-4 dependents cannot work, and H-1Bs cannot get salary raises. Don't detract from such a good and accurate article.

I have it just says Texas Center....efile for AP seems to have many Texas offices in the drop down..which one to I choose..
Whcen I call USCIS 1800 number, they say that my case is pending in Mesquite, TX....and that does not show up in the Efile Drop Down.

NY consulate is not the greatest but compared to Houston, it is fantastic. Recently I sent my papers for PIO to NY and they took their time but i did get it in 4 weeks time (their website says 2 weeks). I had to make multiple phone calls and if i used the automated system, it would take me to a phone that no one ever answered. If i went through the operator I was invariably forwarded to a wrong department or was told there is no one in the PIO department on that day!! But eventually, I did manage to reach the right person, who told me when to expect the passport and it did arrive in due course. I did send them multiple emails as mentioned at their web page that promised faster responses but till now I have not received any reply till date!
My friend had to send her papers to the consulate in Houston and it is absolutely horrible. Firstly, no one ever answers the phone at any of the listed numbers. An automated response asks you to wait in line and then after an extended duration, you are bumped back to the start of the line. No one replies to emails. Then they send back your passport on flimsy grounds without giving proper reasons. When you send it back, they find a new reason to send it back as my friend had to endure. Eventually, she had to find an 'agent' who charged her $1100 to get her PIO card which he did within a day. When asked to give the breakup of the costs, he said he has to bribe people in the consulate to get the job done.
So this in essence is the real reason why no one answers the phone in Houston or people are given the run about ..corruption. They want you to use the services of these agents who in turn bribe them and get the work done.

I don't have personal problems except with the point I mentioned. I am a consultant. Whenever I go on vacation, I take long vacations after discontinuing my current project. I comeback from vacation and look for a new project. I don't think there is anything fraudulent about that practice. So the above rule definitely concerns me. I think that is non-sense.
What you are saying I understand. And many american/GC holders work as independent contractors on 1099. But H1B is never designed for independent contractor (1099). H1B is designed as W2. By using percentage basis H1B consultants are trying to work like independent contractor on 1099. USCIS is trying to crack down on that.

Maybe USCIS thinks that our cases mayn't become approvable within the next 15 months. This is just my theory, because I see lot of people have got FP but with early PD's
this might not be true, because I personally know about 7/8 applicants with PD of 2007 (I-140 pending) and received thier FP notices.

Once the dollar touches that low, expect huge salary cuts across the board for the employess of these companies.
I wish they invested in R and D and innovation and products instead of services. Service industry is mainly governed by dealing with cost efficient labor. These companies reach out to IITs IIMs get the best and brightest and dump them into the service sector and start earning on them.
If they changed their business modal and started investing in products and Rand D, it may not give them quick money, but the results will be beneficial on the long run.

If USCIS wastes about 10K-20K visa numbers every year, then they are wasting about 10% every year. This 10% is consistent with the amount FBI name-check backlogs.
I am not sure either way but one thing to keep in mind. The FBI estimate is based on 10% of ALL petitions including family petitions. If you would isolate just the EB petitions, the percentage that the FBI flags is much less than 10%
But again I am just repeating what I read. So you could be right.

I understand that Immigration bill is not an easy one to pass. If it is being introduced again, hopefully they are not going to have the exact same wordings. I am sure they would have learnt something from the previous failures and come to some agreeable compromise.
So i think it is good to have some hope and work towards making it happen. Lets not worry about failure. We have nothing much to lose.

Mr. Murthy didn't bring out the message correctly. If you read clearly his message is directed towards state govts which dont provide infrastructure and mandatory English as education. So, I think he meant that as long as state govts act upon giving good infrastructure and mandatory English, young talent will remain in India.
But r the bloody politicians listening?
The man is worth $1.6 billion and need not resort to such cheap gimmicks and hez no longer the chief of Infosys. And the guy who cant interpret a simple message and calling it a gimmick whoz he? Some small time programmer sitting in a corner typing stuff about Infosys/gimmicks???--- LOL. Give the revolutionary businessman some respect will ya?

2) It's sad that we are getting GCs at the expense of people of came here illegally. Our efforts are held hostage by both parties (It's simple), One party wants to win votes of one group and the other wants to wins votes as well of a different group. It's not about "DOING THE RIGHT THING". If it was about "DOING THE RIGHT THING" there would never had been a backlog. Backlog elimination center was created just to put some cases on hold and clear cases of 245i applicants (USCIS will never allow us access to that data)
3) DOING THE RIGHT THING....why unequal penalties of the parties who break the immigration Law. All punishment is directed towards the employee. EMployer only gets fine. Make punishment stricter for employers, (hit them where it hurts most, jail them and shut down their business)there will never be any illegal immigrant getting jobs. there whould be equal punishment for both.
4) Why this doble standard when it comes to immigration. why don't people oppose when jobs are transferred in name of outsroucing or shifting production to cheapr countries? Anti Immigants are biggest Hypocrites ever and Pro immigrants are not representins immigrants properly. No one focuses on the injsutice done to legal aliens.
5) I am EB3, I followed Law, I am in backlog because Govt did not process the cases in 2001 , 2002, 2003 in time and created a backlog and I resisted the temptation to break laws and buy Labor substitution AND I openly say that I oppsoe illegal immigration and amesty to illegeal immigrants (and I do feel sorry for them. god bless them they deserve a better life).

I dont think so. I believe that EB3 I would get the bare minimum they should get in a year if not more.
I am not tracking approvals rate as such. But if, CIS hasn't used as many numbers have DOS reported, then as Ron suggested, dates will move forward for EB3 Ind.
