In the 2006 CIR was passed by Senate and it failed in Congress.
The strategy was adding poison pill. They deliberately added so many poison pill that
even EB folks were opposing the bill.
I respect your opinion. CIR failed in 2006. But if Democrats do bring the CIR up again and it fails again, it doesnot look good upon them either. So the hope is that they will check the feasibility of passing. And, we(EB folks) may have a chance to piggy back with the Undocumented and latino lobby.

Macaca, what a great idea! Can you or someone approximate the figure f how much we have cntributed to SS (and better yet, how much would stop going into SS if we all left in a reverse brain drain)

SS is a mess and so everyone loves the donations (not contributions).

I know many Indian students in my uni who have cheated and plagiarized and somehow graduated and then gone to these fraud consultants who applied for their h1-b.
Last year I knew at least few Desi masters students who were caught for plagiarism and suspended, but those guys/girls went to a desi fraud consultant who applied for their h1-b based on their bachelors while they were doing there their masters (they had no job, nothing) and guess what?.. they got it!
There are not many desi students at my uni, I have heard these things are very common and happen at a large scale at bigger schools. A lot them of don�t bother to really study because they know would somehow find a job and visa through a bodyshop consultant after they graduate. If these students could do a job, I think anyone in the world could do what they are doing,. no talent or skill is required!
These bodyshops consultant are just bad for everyone- for deserving students, schools and industries.
So I think bodyshops consultant should not be allowed to apply for h1-b at least.

Works in gas pumps and grocery stores to pay for their bills/tuitions, in violation of F-1 regulations. And then get "H1-b" through these body-shoppers.
At the risk of repeating myself, I will say again: just one regulation preventing software consultancies (read: body-shoppers) will remove almost all woes against H1-B program and have a very positive effect on the GC queue in the next decade.

In a matter of minutes my indicator has gone to 3 reds. Am I missing something... ?!!!
Dont worry too much about the reds. Even I used to have a couple of greens.
But when I saw many people complaining about why IV is not pursuing piecemeal,
I explained them about the Hispanic caucus and CIR.....I started getting reds
because of that.
People often give red even for rational and logical postings here if the information is uncomfortable.

Nice story :) I had a clause in my first contract that I had to work for a company at least for 6 months or I will have to reimburse all H1B-related expenses. Well, I left the company and when the company's president called me, just told him to get lost. Never heard from him again. Looking back, I should've sued the company because it did not pay me full salary for the first month while I was on the "bench" (searching for a contract). Well, I am just too lazy :)

Gotta love this system...
Two years ago; Grassley sent a questionnaire to the top 10 Indian outsourcing companies of how they use non immigrant visas.
They did not have any legal obligation to answer his query. They answered his questions by non answering it.
Grassley then starts to increase the rhetoric and starts pressuring uscis/dol to start investigations.
uscis/dol start investigatin and denying cases and study it and find fraud.
now; Grassley is getting his way and starting to change policy.
Nascom senses game is over and come begging which is exactly what grassley wanted in the first place.
At the end; he will get these guys to agree to tough measures (ie., lca requirements for L-1; tougher measures on h-1b, etc.
See how Microsoft answered differently when they got the query and compare to these guys.
This system created in USA has a way of making you conform to their behaviour willingly or through long and painful way. Looks like they had to learn through long and painful way.

There was a soft LUD on mine as well as on my wife's I-485 :D. Mine was filed in NSC on July 2nd 2007 and transferred to CSC for receipts and transferred back to NSC :confused:. Currently mine is not within the priority date :confused: . Not sure why there is sudden LUD this month :eek:.
