Online information say Indian passport renewal takes around 10 - 15 days but it is usually done much quicker. I received my passport in less than 2 weeks(7 business days if i remember correctly) from Chicago, offcourse i mailed all documents.

I have received my Green card & My wifes green card during March. But I did not receive my daughter's (2 yrs old) green card even though it was approved
by Immigration on Feb 24th. I received welcome letter also during March.
When I called the USCIS helpdesk number, they said it was mailed to my address on Feb 28th and it might have been lost and I need to apply for I-90 to get replacement card.
There is no tracking number also. They also said my daughter can use valid AP to enter to USA.
Today I made an appointment through INFO PASS and talked to Immigration officer. He also said the same thing and also added that a Bio-metrics should be taken along with I-90 for my kid.
My daughter is currently in India and planning to come back on July4th. She has a valid advance parole till Jan 2012. But the officer told that she can not enter to USA with Advance parole since her GC was approved. He asked me to contact local US embassy to get some travel document so that she can travel.
I am confused now. Did anyone faced such situation ?

After the lawerand medical examination took a long time my concurrent filing applicaiton was over night fedexed on Jun 28th from nj to nebraska and fedex did not pickup on Jun 28th due some weather and they try to deliver on Saturday which was Jun 30th and finally it was delivered on July 2nd 7:55AM and the check also not encashed and application also not returned.

F1 requires non-immigrant intent. Change of status to F1 may be difficult once you have filed for I140/485

I would suggest to build a wind mill and generate own power next winter :D
My a** was burned with big electricity bill last winter when I was in apartment . If I put 70 hall will be very hot and bed room will be very cold. If I put 75 bed room is ok but people in hall are sweating. No proper control because of poor maitenance and also the apartment location.
You will be surprised I am paying less power bill now in new house of 2500 SQFT than I was paying in 1100 SQFT apartment (with no one at home from 8 AM to 6 PM and all lights off by 10.30 PM).
I am repeating myself, most of the times it is because of the poor maintenance of the heating system. That causes the system to run all the time.Ask how long ago the management did maintenance to the heating system (not just replacing the filter twice a year which doesn't do anything other than clean air)

Recently we are seeing lot of people with new id without completing profile they are able to start new thread. What if admin enforced new user to fill the personnel information and then only they can post on this web site. More importantly some key massages\important issues get berried in active forums due to above issue.
Even going further we can put trial period for new users for 15 days .If they have any questions just pay 5-10 $ and get active in forum there answers will be provided by all our valued/all star members (most green as per rank) in this way we get more revenue and members get valued advice.

Yes, USCIS can raise RFE ability to pay even in I-485 stage.

The yates memo made it clear that AC-21 portability employers dont have to prove anything (ability-to-pay, test of market etc). The only expectation from them is that they promise you a job with same/similar duties.
to OP: size of your newemployer should not be a problem,just make sure your job duties are same/similar to what was described in your LC.

However my F1 visa expires May 30 2009.
Also I do not have a job at present.
Does my OPT override the F1 visa expiration?Can I stay legally in the US till August even if I do not have a job?

The visa stamp on your passport does not determine your status once you are inside USA. Visa stamp on the passport is used just for entering the US. It is like a movie ticket. You will need the visa stamp on the passport only if you go out and need to come back again. The expiry date on the visa stamp simply means you cannot use that stamp to enter US after that date.
Once you are inside US, usually it is I-94 that determines how long you can stay. In the case of F1, usually I-94 says D/S, which means "Duration of Status" --- i.e., as long as your F1 status holds according to I-20, you are good. OPT is a part of F1. So as long as you do not stay beyond the date of OPT expiration, you are good.

Regarding (6) above, it is not 10K, more like 5K.
Only a part of AC21 is repealed; ppl can still move one year after their 140 is approved and 485 is pending.

NY DL will have your last date of legal residence (H1B expiry or I94 expiry) in big red fonts saying you are "temp visitor until ddMonYYYY. BUt your license will be valid for 5 yrs if it is you are applying for first time in NY state. If it is a NY state license renewal the license will renewed for the next 8 years. The only problem the bold , big and red font saying you are a temp visitor.
