I wonder what our children and grandchildren will learn from all these. When they grow up and know that their parents had to go through this mess while waiting to be accepted legally for xxxx number of years and some people got the "grand reward" of being illegal for many years!! The original intent of labour substitution was not bad. If you understand that EB immigration was designed with the AMERICAN EMPLOYER and their needs in mind you will understand why labour substitution was allowed. It was a way for american employers to get employees in critical shortage areas and keep american industry competitive. It really was not meant to either be fair or not fair to you and me. If you understand this then it all makes more sense.
That was then and this is now. So what has it evolved to?
Labour substitution became a bargainig chip, for employee/employers. It was bought and sold. It was used, abused and misused and done so rather widespreadly. It started to be used mainly by Desi Bodyshoppers. In some cases for friends and even relatives, to the extent that AMERICAN employers and their employees became the ones getting hurt/delayed by it.
So the rules were changed. Those of us who went through the traditional channels realise that those of you who took labour subs. did nothing legally wrong. Simply understand that we cannot and will not have any sympathy for you if and when something goes wrong.
As for the folks asking people not to give their opinion. Please post in a private forum then.

Even today i came across a friend saying according to his so and so friends thinking , EB2 should move very fast as last time it jumped from 2002 - 2004 or what ever in 2 months

I learned that the full committee meeting was scheduled for June 23rd (yesterday). Was it dropped or rescheduled?? Can you give that piece of information?

Folks, can dependent's participate in writing letters to President? I have already mailed my hand written letter to White House and copy to IV team, in addition to that I got confirmation from other Indians with whom I work also mailed their letters..If dependents are also allowed then count for another 10 letters from my side...;)

You still didn't explain how "immigrant status verification is related to homeland security" logically.

Sure, why not. An immigrant who is not in valid status is one who is legally not allowed to be in the country. Therefore he is a security threat. If somebody who should not be allowed in your house were in your house, you would consider him to be a security threat, wouldn't you? Am I missing something here?

I too thought that it could be a hoax call. But When I discussed with my employer and came to know the name of the person who called me is same as that of person who visited our employer 2 months back, then I realized that it is not a hoax call.
But I really don't understand what was the purpose and why I got such call and why he did not show up. Till now there is no communication from the officer.
Do you have this "officer"'s caller id in your phone records ?

1. EAD extension.
2. AP extension.
3. Since EAD extension is possible only because of 485 pending, is there a chance of risk, if employer withdraws 485 for some reason.

EAD extention is possible on the basis of pending I485 application. This I485 application belongs to the applicant (you, spouse, family members). Your employer does not have the authority to withdraw the your I485 application. Your employer however has the authority to withdraw the underlying I-140 application.
If you have an approved I-140 and your I-485 application has been pending for more than 180 days, the revokation of your I-140 application by your employer will not have any effect. it may trigger an interview or an RFE for you to prove valid employment, which you should be able to prove (pay stubs, employment letter, tax returns) and beyond that there should be no risk what so ever.

I remember I read this somewhere (on one of the forum threads on IV) - that the only dates movement (if any) for EB-2 (India) will be only during Oct'07 (when the new financial year begins).
Until then, I guess there is no point in checking these Visa Bulletins; Only difference is when one of the pro-immigrant Bills in the Senate or House get passed.
For now, best strategy is to follow IV Core's directives - they have always been on top of things (going by the past one year or so), and seem to know more than most of us.

While we work on bills, is there anything that can be done without a bill but from some kind of an order from the President's office or the Head of USCIS. Getting a bill thru congress in this climate seems next to impossible ( If we could just counter the -ve bills/amendments that would be significant).
What I am trying to say is there something somewhere that can be done with just one office making the decision then we can all make a concentrated effort towards that one office as we do have a few Legal immigration friendly people at every office.
Any ideas????
